Information Organization Faculty Position
The Information School of the University of Washington is seeking
applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in Information
Organization. The University of Washington is committed to being one of
the top information schools in the world, and as part of this effort we
are seeking an outstanding individual to join our exceptional
multi-disciplinary faculty. This new colleague will join a faculty
eager to participate through research, teaching, and service in a
broad-based, inclusive information school with academic programs at the
bachelor, master and doctoral levels. University of Washington faculty
engage in teaching, research and service.
The Information Organization position requires expertise in and a strong
commitment to research and teaching excellence in one or more of the
following areas:
* Information organization
* Classification theory
* Information modeling
* Knowledge representation
We are looking for an individual who comes to the school with a strong
theoretical background and is excited about engaging in
multi-disciplinary approaches to the study of information organization.
Participation in the field through standards bodies or
industry/government initiatives is a plus.
This is a full-time appointment anticipated at the rank of Assistant
Professor or Associate Professor commensurate with qualifications and
experience. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree by date
of appointment.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the
position is filled. Selected candidates will be invited for campus
