Paul Kanciruk, in the Environmental Sciences Division of Oak Ridge
National Laboratory has been actively involved in this type of work for
issues related to global environmental change for about, if not more than,
20 years. He has also been working with various interagency (the National
Labs are DOE-supported R&D facilities) data and information management
grops on metatagging and related strategies for a wide variety of climate
change-related data. Part of this work has been with a rather useful
Mercury software package. I am sure that Paul would be willing to answer
your questions and provide you with some background with the US Glaobal
Change Data and Information System and their various data management
initiatives. Please tell he I suggested your contacting him. His eMail
address: PKK at ORNL.gov.
