Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to announce the release of v. 0.5 of the Taxonomy of
Digital Research Activities in the Humanities (TaDiRAH), which has greatly
benefited from feedback from the digital humanities community over the
past several months. TaDiRAH is the product of a year-long project
undertaken by
DARIAH in partnership with DiRT, with the goal of developing a shared
taxonomy of digital humanities goals and methods that could be used to
organize and integrate the contents of sites as diverse as the DARIAH
Zotero bibliography Doing Digital Humanities, the DiRT tool directory, and
the DHCommons project directory.

While work remains to be done (particularly in refining the definitions and
scope notes), we believe it has reached a state where the best way to
improve TaDiRAH will be to put it into practice. Over the next few months,
we will implement TaDiRAH categories in the Zotero bibliography, DiRT and
DHCommons, and will meet periodically to update TaDiRAH as needed. We
encourage other projects that need of a way to categorize their content to
consider using TaDiRAH, and we welcome all feedback.

TaDiRAH's home is on Github at https://github.com/Tadirah/TaDiRAH, where
we'll be using the issue tracker to collect further feedback. Currently we
only have a human-readable version available, but we'll be publishing
machine-readable versions (linked data and a Drupal taxonomy feature
module) soon.

TaDiRAH is pronounced "ta-DEE-rah", and is almost an anagram of "DARIAH"
and "DiRT".

On behalf of all the coordinators, I would like to thank you for your
feedback, which has significantly improved the taxonomy since the last
version. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments.

Best,
Jody Perkins
