Hello colleagues,

[Sent for Caryn.Anderson at simmons.edu. Dick]

It is time to start thinking about what you want to contribute to the
Silent Auction this year. Each year at the ASIST Annual Meeting the
International Information Issues SIG holds an International Reception
and Silent Auction. Donations from ASIST members are bid on by other
members to raise money to sponsor memberships for colleagues in
countries for whom the membership fee presents a financial hardship.

Donations in the past have included items from the personal
households/libraries of members (jewelry, books, etc.), offerings of
services (weekend at vacation home, etc.), and items created by
members themselves (paintings, knitted items, wine from member
vineyards, etc.).

So get creative or clear out your attic. No item is too small or too
trivial. A large portion of the InfoShare funds are raised from items
auctioned for less than $5.00! When it doubt, bring it along!

If you plan to bring your items to Annual Meeting, please give them to
Caryn Anderson or Vika Kravchyna or any SIG-III officer. If you would
like to mail it, please coordinate with Caryn or Vika directly
(vika.kravchyna at arius3d.com or caryn.anderson at simmons.edu).

** Special Uganda Books Project **
If you own books specifically related to Library and Information
Sciences, please consider donating them to the SIG-III campaign (new
this year) to provide materials to LIS programs and colleagues in
Uganda. Please contact Vika for more information about the LIS books for
Uganda project (vika.kravchyna at arius3d.com).

We'll send you another reminder in early October about the Silent
Auction, but we wanted to get you thinking before you start your fall
cleaning.

Thanks for thinking of the InfoShare Award.

Best wishes,

Vika Kravchyna
Caryn Anderson
