Greetings,

below the current slate of candidates for more information about the
positions if you are interested*** Nominations close on September 1.

*Two positions are available –*

*[1] Deputy Director SIG Cabinet/Director-elect (three year term)*

*[2] SIG Cabinet advisor (two year term)*

*If you are interested, or would like to nominate someone to serve please
respond directly to klabarre at illinois.edu <klabarre at illinois.edu> *

*Current slate:*

*SIG Deputy Director*

*Moriana Garcia*, Natural Sciences Liaison Librarian at Denison University:
I am a practitioner librarian and have been a member of ASIS&T since 2008.
I was first involved with my local chapter (Central Ohio-ASIS&T), and later
moved to national appointments. I chaired the Special Interest Group -
Scientific and Technical Information (SIG-STI) in 2012 and was elected
Advisor to SIG Cabinet in 2013. While Chair of SIG-STI, I implemented a
successful realignment plan for the SIG that included attracting,
retaining, and mentoring new leaders, creating a new website and social
media presence, selecting a new logo, and most importantly, organizing SIG
sponsored events and publications to benefit the membership. My leadership
trajectory within ASIS&T has provided me with a first-hand view of the
basic organizational structure of the association and some of its problems.
As Deputy Chair/Chair for SIG Cabinet, I would be able to draw from my
experience to advance and support all SIGs towards an engaged, vibrant, and
more efficient community. I would pay special attention to the new
globalized aspects of our association.

*Kristene Unsworth*, Assistant Professor at the College of Computing and
Informatics of Drexel University: for the past two terms I have served as
the SIG-IEP (formally IFP) chair. I have been actively involved with the
revitalization of the SIG. The SIG held a successful and well-attended
preconference workshop at ASIS&T 2014: *Trust in the Age of Data (Big and
Small)* and we are now consistently active sponsors and co-sponsors of
conference panels, as well as special issues of the *Bulletin. *I have had
the honor of working with outstanding colleagues who are strong advocates
and tireless workers committed to bringing this SIG back to its active role
in our professional organization. My own research interests center on the
interaction between information policy and ethics in civil society. I teach
across the curriculum at Drexel University at the undergraduate, masters,
and PhD level. My research and teaching background would be valuable
resources in the role of Deputy Director SIG Cabinet/Director-elect. In
addition, my ability to work collaboratively with and across areas of
expertise would serve me well as Deputy Director SIG Cabinet/Director-elect.
Through my work with SIG-IEP, I have demonstrated the ability to identify
opportunities to cultivate new and renewed relationships in order to
increase SIG outreach opportunities. In the role of Deputy Director SIG
Cabinet/Director-elect I would serve as an active liaison to ASIS&T
Committees. Throughout my tenure as Deputy Director SIG
Cabinet/Director-elect, I would work to continue to insure a strong sense
of sharing and information exchange among our many groups and help insure
that the work done in our SIGs continues to be recognized and supported.

*SIG Advisor*

*Michael Luesebrink*, Associate University Librarian, Florida State
University Libraries. I am expressing my interest to serve as SIG Cabinet
advisor. Currently I am serving as chair of SIG-STI having become familiar
with the organizational processes and discourse of the SIG environment. I
have worked at FSU Libraries for almost eighteen years as science
librarian, acquisitions librarian and currently serve in the newly created
position of collection assessment librarian. My research areas of interest
include information policy, information security governance, and
organizational culture and structures in higher education institutions. I
am seeking the SIG cabinet advisor position because of my professional
background, my experience with SIG STI and my strong interest in serving
the SIG community. I want to use my skills and experience honed in working
with a research intensive university community as a foundation for
collaborating with my colleagues to serve as SIG advisor to meet the
strategic challenges and opportunities that lay ahead for the cabinet.

*Rong Tang*, Associate Professor at Simmons College.

I started as a student member, I have been a devoted ASIS&T member for
about 20 years. I love ASIS&T and the ASIS&T community. My research
interests center on user behavior research, including cognitive styles and
user experience, usability evaluation, collaborative user behavior, and
mobile user research. Published in top-ranked journals, I teach primarily
in areas of usability, digital information searching, evaluation of
information services, and research methods. When serving on the ASIS&T
Membership Committee, I organized or helped to organize the New Members
Brunch for two years. As the SIG-USE Chair in 2013-2014, I worked actively
with my colleagues to identify ways to enrich the SIG’s activities
including organizing webinars. I was involved in organizing and developing
ideas for SIG USE annual research symposiums, and I also organized SIG USE
elections for the past three years. As a SIG Cabinet Advisor, I would
continue to devote my time and passion to fulfill relevant
responsibilities, look for means to enhance the relationship between the
SIGs and the Cabinet, and to contribute the best way I can to the success
of the Society.
