[Sig-l] Nominations and expressions of interest for Deputy SIG Cabinet Director or SIG Cabinet Member (terms begins in November at annual meeting)

Posting this notice on behalf of Chris Landbeck, clandbeck at fsu.edu,
Immediate Past SIG Cabinet Director.

This is a call for expressions of interest and/or nominations for
individuals who are interested in serving as the Deputy SIG Cabinet
Director. This is a three year term which begins at the annual meeting in
November 2014 in Seattle. Please respond directly, and as soon as possible,
to Chris Landbeck (who I have copied on this message) with your interest
and a current bio.

Eligibility requirements for both positions:

*Must be a current ASIST member
*Must have held one of the following positions:

(1)  Is a current SIG Cabinet Steering Committee member

(2)  Has served as a SIG representative to the SIG Cabinet Steering
Committee during the last three years

(3)  Has served as a Chair of one of the Special Interest Groups

Term for this position is three years, beginning at the 2014 annual meeting.

The first year title: Deputy SIG Director [SIG Cabinet Director elect] –
also serves as a non-voting member of ASIST Board.

Second year title: SIG Cabinet Director. Member of ASIST Board. Voting
member of the ASIST Board.

Third year title Immediate past SIG Cabinet Director. Chair of several
nominating committees.


There is also three Cabinet positions up for election this year; please
consider nominating someone or yourself!  Current Cabinet members may stand
for re-election.


The SIG Cabinet is the official coordinating body for all SIGs and their
activities. The Cabinet consists of the Cabinet Director, the Deputy
Cabinet Direct or, the SIG Cabinet Steering Committee and one
representative from each SIG. As a body, the Cabinet's purpose is to manage
the collective affairs of the SIGs and to advise the Board of Directors
about the mutual interests and common problems of the SIGs.

The SIG Deputy Cabinet Director are is elected  every year and any ASIST
member who has served as a representative, on the SIG Cabinet Steering
Committee during the last three years, and/or as a chair of a Special
Interest Groups is eligible.

The SIG Cabinet Steering Committee has the general responsibility of
assisting the Cabinet Director in the management of the SIG Cabinet. The
committee consists of the Cabinet Director, the Deputy Cabinet Director and
four other members elected from among the current SIG officers and Cabinet
Representatives, each of whom serves a two-year staggered term. Members of
the Steering Committee are responsible for evaluating and approving all
Project and Reserve Fund requests and for serving as liaisons between the
SIGs and the Cabinet Director.

The other members of the SIG Cabinet are the Cabinet Representatives
elected or appointed by each SIG to represent them in this body. Each SIG
must choose a representative and an alternate representative with the
expectation that one of them will attend all Cabinet annual meetings.

Neither ASIST nor individual SIGs may support the travel expenses of
attendees at the SIG Cabinet Meeting. These expenses must be borne by the
individuals. An individual need not be a registered attendee at the meeting
in order to represent a SIG at the Cabinet annual meeting.
