From klabarre at illinois.edu Sun Feb 2 17:17:26 2014 From: klabarre at illinois.edu (Kathryn La Barre) Date: Sun, 2 Feb 2014 16:17:26 -0600 Subject: [Sig-l] Recruiting new SIG members!!? Got advice? Message-ID: Greetings, I'm writing to this list to ask your SIG to share your successful strategies for increasing your membership in your SIG. Please post your stories/ ideas (and even cautionary tales) as a reply to this thread. At the SIG officer orientation we talked about placing a general call on SIG-L. I think that this should contain a reminder that ASIST members can join as many SIGs as they like for the low, low price of $10. I think SIG specific blurbs would be a great way to get the word out about your SIG. Kathryn -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Got advice? In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: One bit of advice: During the orientation we talked about how to obtain SIG membership rosters. Do this today! Run your membership roster - one for the most current year and one for the prior year. Instructions here: http://www.asis.org/membershipInstructions.html See which members you lost over the past year and contact them. They may have forgotten about the $10 deal when they renewed their membership, or may have forgotten to choose your SIG. There are some helpful templates for such emails on the wiki [scroll down to the section titled *SAMPLE EMAIL TO LAPSED MEMBERS*: http://www.asis.org/wiki/chapters-sigs/index.php/Chapter_Assembly On Sun, Feb 2, 2014 at 4:17 PM, Kathryn La Barre wrote: > Greetings, > I'm writing to this list to ask your SIG to share your successful > strategies for increasing your membership in your SIG. I have finally gotten the answers to some questions that were asked at the SIG Officers' online meeting. 1) Will multiple SIG sponsorship help in acceptance of panels at the Annual Meeting? Answer: The reviewers will not be weighing multiple SIG sponsorship as part of the review process; however, when the final decisions are made on which panels to accept multiple SIG sponsorship will be taken into account! 2) Can we post to asis-l (General ASIS&T mailing list and announcements) and if so, how? Yes, you may post to asis-l and this is the process: a) Make sure you are subscribed to the list and you know which address your subscription is under. For information about subscribing and about the list go to http://mail.asis.org/mailman/listinfo/asis-l. Note: you must specifically subscribe to asis-l to post to it; being subscribed to one of the SIG mailing list does not subscribe you to asis-l. Also, when you subscribe to asis-l, all subscription requests will be reviewed by the list moderators. You should receive an email notification when the subscription request is approved. b) After you have subscribed to the list, from the address that you subscribed under, post your message to asis-l at asis.org c) One of the moderators of the list may contact you if there are any questions about your post. Note: This is a way you can get members of other SIGs to join your SIG because for just $10 an ASIS&T member can be in all the SIGs they want :-) Lastly, the SIG Officer's Manual is now ready and available. It is posted on the the wiki at http://www.asis.org/wiki/chapters-sigs/index.php/Main_Page#SIG_Resources_and_Reports. Please let myself or Kathryn know if you see an errors. Hope this helps. -Heather Deputy Director of SIG Cabinet -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
