Hello SIG leaders -
It's been a while since I've been in contact with you, and I wanted to
give you an update on some ongoing projects as well as some reminders
for upcoming deadlines. If you're receiving this email and are no
longer a SIG officer, please let me know by replying to me directly
(ktlv at email.unc.edu). I do not have current officer's lists from some
of the SIGs so have not removed all of the old officers from SIG-L.
First, an update on the financial restructuring plan: You may have
noticed that the membership form
(https://www.asis.org/Join/membershipform.shtml) has been updated to
reflect our new pricing structure for SIG membership (1st is free, then
$10 for unlimited additional ones). This change went into effect late
this spring. I expect to have information for you about the
implications of this change at our SIG Cabinet meeting in October. We
are still working on implementation documents and process for the second
half of the plan. This is the budgeting and resource allocation piece.
I expect that we'll have all of that ready to implement with the new
ASIST fiscal year, which starts in October. Please let me know if you
have questions about this process. The upshot is that this year we did
not prompt you for budgets on April 1st - but next year we will.
Second, a few upcoming deadlines: SIG awards! Yay! The three SIG
Awards (for member, publication, and SIG of the Year) are due August
15th. The forms for the member and publication nominations are already
live. I am working on streamlining the SIG of the Year form so that it
is more formlike and hopefully easier to fill out. In recent years
we've had several strong nominations for each of our awards - I hope to
continue that tradition this year as well!

The Annual Meeting program committee met for an intense retreat this
past weekend to discuss the large number of papers, short papers, and
panels that we received this year. I expect all of you who submitted
proposals will hear by the end of the week about your status. Posters,
demos, and video submissions are due July 16th - I look forward to
seeing your creative works in these areas as well! Info:

I will be away from my desk for the next two weeks but will be checking
email whenever possible. Please feel free to contact me with questions,
comments, and constructive criticism. And stay cool!
