James W. Cortada discusses the key findings from his new book, All the Facts: A History of Information in the United States Since 1870. He will also introduce a framework for studying information history that can be applied at the national level and in more narrowly focused studies. His discussion will review the role of information in the private and public sectors, also how people used information in their public and private lives, and conclude with an argument in favor of understanding the role of information as a central theme in American history.
