Researcher II Position Available - Tampa, FL, PricewaterhouseCoopers
Job Description
The Knowledge Services Organization supports PricewaterhouseCoopers with a
collection of knowledge-sharing tools and resources, such as a robust
intranet portal, research and analytics, and content development services.
Summary Description:
A Researcher II is responsible for providing relevant research and
analytical support to Client Service and IFS partners and staff. This can
range from providing quick fact checking to synthesized research that
demonstrates the
ability to use sophisticated research skills (e.g., source selection and
search strategies) to produce value-added research responses and
research-based analysis (e.g., interpretive and analytical reviews of
information/data). A
deep understanding of available research databases and creative approaches
to finding information is required. This role also is responsible for
overseeing long-term research and content projects.
Strategic & Technical Orientation:
Requires thorough knowledge of research skills, tools and methodologies,
including the research project lifecycle and the information interview
process. Requires increased development of expertise within an area of
specialization/focus (e.g., industry or technical domain) and the
incorporation of this expertise into work activities.
Range of Impact:
Independently evaluates research findings, selects and synthesizes
findings to provide the appropriate level of research; must have detailed
knowledge sources to support the selection of the appropriate research.
Collaborates with
Research and cross-functional colleagues to resolve challenging problems
and/or develop effective research solutions. Influences teammates within
the Research functional, as well as cross-functionally within Research &
Analytics,
especially within area of specialization/focus.
Scope of Responsibility:
Serves on a team of researchers, aligned to an area of
specialization/focus. Performs research for staff across U.S. and makes
decisions on the most cost-effective research available to fulfill a
research request. Requires
knowledge of appropriate research use guidelines to minimize risk to the
firm.
Responsibilities
Apply knowledge of Firm strategy/organization to developed solutions.
Work with client service teams, XLOS teams and domain management to assist
with specific research and content projects (both ongoing and ad hoc).
Collaborate with the US industry domain managers on knowledge management
issues and establish connectivity between research and domain management.
Conduct reference interviews to develop full scope of request while
carrying out research request assignments.
Liaise with other PwC research groups and resources as needed to fulfill
research requests.
Synthesize and codify research findings into meaningful responses to
research seekers.
Employ efficient use of resources (i.e. appropriate selection of research
databases) and research methods to minimize costs.
Provide navigational/training instructions to research staff and research
seekers, where appropriate.
Provide data elements and analysis where applicable for use in proposals,
client documents, marketing publications, thought leadership, etc.
Work with vendor contacts to supply partners and staff with timely and
pertinent information on an ongoing basis.
Work with vendors and research seekers to develop solutions to
content/research challenges.
Develop deeper proficiency within a designated industry and/or focus area.
Develop and deliver presentations on research tools and techniques.

Job Requirements
2 - 5 Years Experience
Demonstrable experience in an information service environment
Strong familiarity with the use of external research databases (e.g.,
Dialog, Dun & Bradstreet, Factiva, Lexis-Nexis, Thomson Financial)
Understanding of the importance of knowledge within a professional
services environment
Experience in the areas of financial analysis, company/industry research,
business presentation drafting, personal client interaction, and
management of multiple tasks is preferred
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, should be comfortable
working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with the use of common office systems, particularly Excel,
Word, Lotus Notes and PowerPoint
Proven ability to communicate efficiently in a corporate setting
Must be prepared to work flexibly and cooperate within the Knowledge
Services Organization infrastructure
Excellent writing, interviewing and communication skills
Team player with a demonstrated ability of working with various levels of
management
Takes initiative, has proactive attitude and is willing to question
established routines and practices
