Hi Neil,

Thanks for your answer. We have built an OAIS preservation system dedicated to cinema assets preservation. It was a big challenge for scalability purpose. We deal with huge assets : for instance a digital cinema master asset is around 10-15 TB with 300k files.

I attach here a description of our use case.

My proposal is a feedback on our use case : « Eclair Archive : preservation at scale in a bottom up approach »
- preservation at scale :
        * dealing with huge assets is a technology breaking point in a lot of existing preservation solution
        * ingest performance are also a big deal : our solution is currently ingesting at 8TB/day and is scalable
- bottom :
        * we first focus solid foundation based on standard : OAIS model, AIP in bagit format, format policy registry based on Pronom UK, metadata serialized in METS files with PREMIS sections
        * we have a very strong asset validation policy during our pre ingest process
        * we built a preservation catalog with all metadata indexed
- up :
        * once solid foundations are set, we can improve preservation catalog valorization, semantic indexation ...
