Hello, I'm a photo-based artist working with a new body of fiber prints. I'm very concerned with maintaining the archival quality of my work. I am not going to be framing them traditionally, with glass, mat and a frame, but they will be mounted to archival board. I would still like to preserve the archival quality of works while they are installed. Some of the images will be permanently installed, so I need a solution for protecting the images from UV rays and fading. Does anyone have a suggestion for a UV coating that will not interfere with the presence of the images on the fiber paper and that is archival?
I read Wilhelm Research's report called the myth of UV protection, but this research was for color prints. Does anyone think I should just not bother with UV protection for the permanently installed fiber photo works?
Additionally, any input on best practices for mounting the images to archival board would be appreciated. What board is durable and archival? (I hear sintra is not archival.) What mount technique is best, spray or tissue?
Thank you for your insights!
