Dear NJ ASIST member,

I’m happy to report that we have excellent new leadership for our organization. Effectively immediately, Dr. Kaitlin Costello will take over as the Chair.

Dr. Costello is a faculty member at Rutgers University. She is a long-time ASIST member and strongly committed to this organization. She has been shadowing me for the past few months to understand how NJ ASIST functions and how to serve it the best. I can’t think of a better person to take this position.

Yiwei Wang is a doctoral student at Rutgers University and took over the treasurer responsibilities over the summer as our former treasurer Ziad Matni was leaving the area. Thanks to Ziad for serving us for the past few years. Thanks to Yiwei for taking up this charge now.

It’s been an honor serving this organization and I’m fortunate to have a wonderful set of officers, as well as advisors (Dr. Nick Belkin, Dr. Marija Dalbello, and Dr. Lilia Pavlovsky). Thank you for all your support. I will continue as the Past Chair now, with the knowledge that NJ ASIST is in really good hands and that our best days are ahead of us.

Sincerely,
Chirag Shah
Past Chair, NJ ASIST

The nominations are also open for the positions of Webmaster, Publicist, and Secretary. If we do not have further interests in these positions by the end of this month, we’ll go ahead with the assignments of these wonderful people as our new leaders.

We have consistently organized 2-3 events each year, including Distinguished Lecture Series. This year we also set a new example for all other ASIST chapters by organizing the first ASIST Regional Meeting in April.

Please email me (and just me, not the whole list!) if you are interested in any of these positions starting fall of this year. They are all low-demand, high-reward positions - suitable for both professionals and students. And most of us are still around to help you out as needed!
