Summer 2016
The James P. Adams Library at Rhode Island College invites applications for the tenure track position of Assistant Professor, Head, Metadata and E-Resources.  The individual will be responsible for original and complex adaptive cataloging for monographs, e-resources and all other library materials;  for all aspects of continuing resources in all formats, from selection, in consultation with the Library's subject selectors, to acquisitions, licensing, cataloging, usage reporting, renewals, and continuing access; indexing of digital resources.  This is an anticipated vacancy for summer 2016 and final appointment is subject to available funding.
Established in 1854, Rhode Island College is the oldest of the three public institutions of higher education in Rhode Island that operates under the aegis of the Rhode Island Council on Postsecondary Education. The 180-acre campus in the Mount Pleasant section of Providence combines easy access to the benefits and resources of the metropolitan area with a suburban atmosphere. Rhode Island College has undergone expansion in recent decades at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The college now serves approximately 8,500 students in courses and programs on and off campus.
Required qualifications include: MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited program; a minimum of three years of experience in an academic library with experience in cataloging and electronic resources management, utilizing RDA, OCLC, MARC and familiarity with an Open URL link resolver; experience with an integrated library system.

Preferred qualifications: Reading knowledge of French, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish.
