Hi everyone!

Registration is now open for the NELIG (New England Library Instruction Group) Winter Meetings on December 3, 2010 from 9:00am to 12:30pm.

We have been inspired by Project Information Literacy (http://www.projectinfolit.org). Project Information Literacy has been using qualitative research methods to get a better understanding of students’ research and study habits.  

This meeting will feature speakers discussing their qualitative research projects and will be happening at three different locations: Adams Library at Rhode Island College in Providence, RI; Tisch Library at Tufts University in Medford, MA; and Glickman Library at University of Southern Maine - Portland, ME.

1. At Rhode Island College you will hear from the following speakers about their qualitative research projects:
-- Susanna Cowan from UConn who will be speaking about their Assessment 360 program
-- Kendall Hobbes and Diane Klare from Wellsleyn about their experience working with U Rochester Anthropologist Nancy Foster and the work that came out of that.

2. At Tufts you will hear from the following speakers:
-- The Data Assessment Team at Tufts University who have been conducting qualitative research.
-- Laura Saunders, Visiting Professor at Simmons College who used qualitative research methods to complete her PhD Dissertation "Literacy as a Student Learning Outcome"

3. At the University of Southern Maine- Portland you will hear from:
-- Roberta Jordan who conducted a longitudinal study of the impact of a laptop program on high school students’ information literacy skills using qualitative research methods.
-- Kathy Labadorf from UConn will speak about their Assessment 360 program.


PLEASE REGISTER BY FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2010.
