*Increase Communication, Productivity, and Searching with Google Apps*
April 1 - 30, 2010 (Online Asynchronous)

Google is now more than just a search engine. Google offers a range of
applications which improve communication, productivity, and for searching
the web. This workshop will explore several of Google's free applications
including Google Docs, Google Sites, iGoogle, Google Calendar, and custom
searches and discuss how these tools will not only help you become more
productive personally but how they can add value to existing and future
library services.
The first week of this workshop explore applications that participants can
use to improve their personal productivity and organization. The second week
of this workshop will explore different office applications. The final two
weeks of this workshop will discuss how Google applications can be used in
your library to improve existing services or offer new services to connect,
communicate, and work with your user population. As part of this workshop,
participants will need an existing or create a new Google account.
Instructor: Michael LaMagna is the Coordinator of Electronic Resources at
Cabrini College's Holy Spirit Library where he looks for ways to use
technology to reach students, faculty, and staff. He has been involved with
using Google applications to expand and develop services at his library. He
also serves as a lecture in Cabrini College's Department of Information
Science and Technology and an adjunct assistant professor at the University
of Maryland University College. He holds an undergraduate and a graduate
degree in history and a graduate degree in library and information science;
