What is WP opac?
Wednesday, April 18, 2007
6:30 p.m., Simmons College
Kotzen Meeting Room (in Lefavour Hall, the library building)
Casey Bisson recently received the Mellon Award for Technology
Collaboration for his WP opac: a mashup of the WordPress blogging
platform and OPAC functions. Come find out what WPopac is and why it's
a major step forward as we rethink the role and function of the OPAC
in today's social software society.
Casey Bisson is information architect for Plymouth State University's
Lamson Library. You can check out WP opac here:
http://www.plymouth.edu/library/opac/.
Sponsored by ASIS&T at Simmons! Naturally, there will be snacks and pizza.
This event is limited to 60 attendees. Please RSVP via YARR!, the
GSLIS signup system:
http://gslis.simmons.edu/signup/listevents.php?eventseries_id=4
You will receive an email confirming your registration. If you RSVP
and later determine that you are unable to attend, please use the link
in your confirmation email to withdraw your registration or email
asist at simmons.edu.

Getting to Simmons:
Due to a massive construction project on campus, there is currently no
parking available at Simmons itself. The College Parking Office has
provided information regarding area garages:
http://my.simmons.edu/services/business/parking/off-campus.shtml.
Simmons is easily accessible via the Green (D and E) and Orange lines,
as well as several bus lines (including the CT2 and 47 from
Cambridge). The Parking Office also has details on train and bus
service: http://my.simmons.edu/services/business/parking/trains-buses.shtml
And lastly, a campus map to help you locate Lefavour Hall/Beatley
Library (#3):
