[Neasis-l] Wikimania in Boston, Summer 2006, Planning Tonight, 7 p, Berkman Center

Hello,

Wikimania, an international conference organized primarily by the 
Wikimedia Foundation (the folks behind such projects as Wikipedia and 
Wikinews), will be in Boston during the summer of 2006. Last year's 
conference in Germany attracted hundreds of people and featured panel 
discussions, birds-of-a-feather gatherings, tech talk, and lots of 
excitement about wikis and Wikimedia projects. It provides great 
learning opportunities for people who know nothing about wikis and 
the work of the Wikimedia Foundation, as well as wiki experts.

The local group of Wikipedians is spearheading some of the organizing 
efforts and, as you might expect, is hoping to get some help from 
local people. The first major planning meeting happens Thursday, 
October 27, at 7 pm at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society, 
Baker House, 1587 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA. Several buses 
serve that stretch of Massachusetts Avenue and it's about half a mile 
from Harvard Square and about a mile from Porter Square. Please join 
us to learn more about the conference, even if you aren't 
particularly interested in volunteering.
