Where do you find your "Information, Inspiration, & Innovation"?

At the 2003 Simmons College GSLIS Alumni Day! Scheduled for Wednesday, May
7, this year's event celebrates the three I's that drive our profession:
Information, Inspiration, & Innovation. Come meet GSLIS Dean Michele
Cloonan, and join our homecoming program of networking, exciting prizes, the
new building tour, and esteemed speakers that embody our theme and its
spirit:

Dr. Bonnie Nardi, noted industrial anthropologist and observational
researcher will present "The
Genius Loci of the Library," what she calls the spirit of the library and
how the library can be transformed
during rapid innovation. A former research scientist at Agilent Laboratories
in Palo Alto, CA, Dr. Nardi observes the relational aspects of
communications between people and technology. She has also co-authored
Information Ecologies: Using Technology with Heart, and edited publications
including the series Acting with Technology.

Chris Sherman, author, Web search guru, president of Web consulting firm
Searchwise, and associate editor of Search Engine Watch, will discuss the
Invisible Web - a topic on which he and co-author Gary Price literally wrote
the book (The Invisible Web: Uncovering Information Sources Search Engines
Can't See). Mr. Sherman has more than 20 years of experience in developing
multimedia and Internet applications. He is also a regular contributor to
Information Today, Online, Econtent, and other industry journals.

Winston Tabb '72LS, our 2003 Alumni Achievement Award recipient and dean of
Johns Hopkins University Libraries, will inspire us to "Dare to Live and
Learn." Dean Tabb is former associate librarian at the Library of Congress.
Among his affiliations, he is board member of the Council on Library and
Information Resources, member of the visiting committee of Harvard Libraries
and the Digital Library Federation Policy Committee, and serves as
vice-chair of the Professional Board of the International Federation of
Library Associations and Institutions.

This year, vendor sponsorship has returned to Alumni Day. See what our
sponsors Dialog/NewsEdge, Factiva, Google, and Basch Subscriptions have to
offer; they are among the finest service companies in the information
industry.

Come find your Information, Inspiration, & Innovation!
