APOLOGIES for multiple posting

Dear Colleagues
For the 1st time in an ASIS&T election (as far as I know) members were
invited to discuss the statements with the candidates.

So far only 1 question was raised.

This may be due to the vacation period or the unfortunate collapse of
the lists right after the call was sent. May be some members did not
receive or notice the call which is reproduced below.

Even though about half of the voting period is already over, there is
still time for a fruitful exchange.

Members' participation is a key objective in the candidates statements
especially for me.

I look forward to seeing a healthy exchange in the coming days.

Sincerely

Michel

SP I'll be travelling from Sept. 5 thus may not be in a position to
reply after that date.

> Dear ASIS&T members
>
> The statements of the candidates for President-elect and
> Director-at-Large have been posted on the ASIS&T web site at
> <http://www.asis.org/Board/nominations2003.html> and you should be
> receiving the ballot form and materials soon.
>
> The election of officers is not only an opportunity to select
> individuals but also a chance for the membership at large to express
> its views and options for the future development of our society. If
> ASIS&T is important to us, it deserves more than filling a ballot
> form.
>
> Constraints for the production of the printed ballot material result
> in reducing candidate bio and position statements to a total of about
> 600 words. The statements cannot therefore propose more than general
> ideas and themes.
>
> With the approval of all candidates, we are opening a discussion on
> Asis-l@asis.org. It will allow you to ask questions of the candidates
> about the ideas presented in their statements, or their plans, get
> their replies and further comments, discuss the various issues which
> you see as important for the success of ASIS&T, and the practical
> actions you would like to see implemented.
>
> Whether you subscribe to the regular list, to its digest form, or just
> check the archives, you will be able to send your questions and
> comments.
>
> As one may expect at this time of the year, candidates may not be
> available all the time. Their responses may thus be delayed for one or
> more weeks. Please be patient.
