REMINDER: Deadline for proposals is Monday, October 17.
You are invited to submit a proposal for a breakout session at History Day @
your Library.
History Day @ your library is a daylong event for teachers, librarians, and
media specialists who work with students on History Day research. It is
co-sponsored by MELSA, Metronet, and Minnesota History Day. It will be held
November 9, 2011 at the Minnesota History Center from 8:30-3:30.
Up to 12 breakout sessions are offered throughout the day on library and
information topics. The goals of History Day @ your library are to introduce
students and teachers to the rich library & archive resources that are
available in the Twin Cities and in greater Minnesota and to demonstrate how
librarians and archivists contribute to the success of students doing
History Day research.
To that end, we are looking for presentations that focus on collections that
support the 2012 History Day theme Revolution, Reaction, Reform In History.
We also need presentations that assist students' and teachers' understanding
of basic search strategies, ELM databases, primary resources, Web 2.0 or
other tools that can assist researchers, and any other research and
information topics. Sessions that demonstrate how to teach the research
process, find reliable resources, or that address responsible use are
invited, too.
You can read more about History Day and the 2012 theme, including suggested
student research topics, here:
