CALL FOR MEMBERS

State Library Services invites volunteers and nominations for representatives to the statewide Continuing Education Committee. 



The Minnesota State Library Advisory Council has moved approval for a Standing Committee on Continuing Education which will coordinate and advise on the educational needs of library personnel and how they can be most effectively addressed.

 

Purpose: 

To coordinate continuing education initiatives for Minnesota library staff

To communicate and plan for effective, dynamic, and non-duplicative learning opportunities

To share resources and develop strategies for improving continuing education for library staff


Membership: 
The Committee will represent as many of the following sectors as possible, including:
1) Types of Libraries: academic, public, school library media centers, and special libraries. 
2) Position: staff from all levels of the organization
3) Continuing Education providers
4) Major geographic areas of Minnesota

 

Term: Half the committee positions will be one-year terms and the other half two-year terms, resulting by the third year in staggerred two-year terms.

Meeting Frequency: 3-4 times a year; some meetings will be face-to-face, some online; Working Groups will be formed.

First Meeting: November or early December, depending on member schedules

Other: At this time the Committee is voluntary and there is no financial compensation or per diem.

Applications: If you are interested in participating, submit your name, position, organization, and a brief statement of why you are interested in serving on this committee by October 25, 2008.  Resumes welcome.
