Associate Director for Digital Initiatives

The University of St. Thomas is accepting applications for an 
Associate Director for Digital Initiatives in the UST 
Libraries.  This position is critical to leadership and project 
management in the UST Libraries' digital environment

Responsibilities include:  planning, developing, implementing and 
sustaining the UST Libraries' digital environment; conducting 
hands-on leadership in building, configuring and maintaining the UST 
Libraries' website; coordinating library technology projects using 
formal project management processes; analyzing and assessing the 
usage and effectiveness of electronic resources and technologies; 
working with campus colleagues on the development of library 
technologies in the context of university wide planning; 
collaborating with library staff and university faculty on the 
development and management of electronic content; coordinating and 
developing standards of technical training for UST Libraries' staff.

successful candidate will possess a commitment to the ideals of this

Qualifications: MLS or equivalent and 5 years professional 
experience, preferably in a higher education setting.  High level of 
skill and experience in systems development and the implementation of 
web and database solutions including learning/content/asset 
management and portal technologies. Preferred experience with some of 
the following programming languages: CFML, ASP, J2EE, J2SE, JSP, XML, 
DHTML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL.

A successful candidate will have skill in planning, implementing, 
monitoring and improving library services; in the use of automated 
library systems and in instructing others in the use of library 
systems and in research; leading and managing information resources 
and technology programs in a team based and collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the principles and 
practices of the academic library, including user services, 
cataloging, reference, technical services, and collection development.
