WEBMASTER POSITION ­ UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA EXTENSION

Extension’s website (www.extension.umn.edu) is a 
content-rich site that includes sites for various 
programs, distance education, portals, business 
applications, and an employee site.

We have plans for a major website renovation, 
including new designs, architecture, content, and 
navigation, using the University's Stellent 
content management system, Extension’s central 
data model, and other electronic tools and feeds. 
Use of metadata and taxonomies will assure ease of access to content for users.

The person in this position will play a major 
role in developing and improving the plans, 
provide leadership for implementing technology 
solutions, including coordination, architecture 
and support of the technical aspects of Extension 
websites. The webmaster will ensure that the 
infrastructure, capability, training, tools and 
support for a well-managed website are in place. 
This position will be part of the IT Business 
Applications Development Team, and will work 
closely with Communications and Public Relations.

The webmaster will be key to development of one 
of the top Extension sites in the country. If you 
Google Extension Service, our site is listed 
first out of all the extension sites in every 
other state. In 2006, it received more than 48 million page views.
