Business Information Specialist

James J. Hill Reference Library

The James J. Hill Reference Library seeks an innovative information
professional to provide business reference service to the public and to
work with its HillSource portal initiative. The Hill Library is a
nonprofit business library, open to the public, located in downtown St.
Paul. The library provides an exciting and dynamic atmosphere, changing
the way business information is delivered by promoting and utilizing
high-tech delivery methods. HillSource provides knowledge portals and
digital libraries to varied clients.

The successful candidate will:

    ·  Provide reference assistance to on-site and remote clients, via
       telephone, email, and virtual reference technologies.

    ·  Perform fee-based research to client specifications.

    ·  Create and maintain knowledge portals and digital library sites.

    ·  Select and annotate Web sites, articles, and related resources for
       inclusion in portals, digital libraries, and newsletters.

    ·  Create and maintain project plans in cooperation with clients.

Other related duties include the creation and maintenance of project
documentation and the creation, implementation, and presentation of
training materials for clients and staff.

Requirements

MLS from an ALA-accredited institution. Other requirements are:
experience using standard electronic and print business reference
resources; familiarity with technology tools such as content management
systems; excellent writing and editing skills; the ability to meet
deadlines; and the ability to work independently.

A minimum of 1-3 years experience in a business library, information
center, or academic library is preferred. Project management experience
and copyright familiarity is desirable.

Position is full-time and may require some travel.

Salary: $38,000 - $40,000, depending on qualifications.
