Systems Librarian ­ Law Firm
Minneapolis, MN

Our client, a law firm in Minneapolis, is seeking a Systems Librarian.

Provide project management and act as database administrator for the 
Information Resources technology initiatives managed by the Technical 
Services team.  Oversee work done on WRP scripts by Application 
Development.  Use reporting functionalities and other technologies to 
improve efficiencies of internal Information Resources procedures and 
services provided to the Firm.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
A.      Provide project management for all Information Resource’s systems 
including SydneyPlus, Information Manager and WRP (Lookup 
Precision).  Provide project management of technology-related Information 
Resources initiatives, including Sydney Plus’ integration with Elite, and 
other projects as assigned.
B.      Manage and maintain the integrity of SydneyPLUS and WRP (Lookup 
Precision).  Responsible for making changes to the database structure, 
troubleshooting any technical problems affecting the systems, and 
implementing system updates.
C.      Work with Application Development to produce WRP scripts and to 
trouble shoot and fix existing scripts when the vendors make changes to 
their web sites.
D.      Work with Manager of Technical Services to identify and evaluate 
Information Resources work processes and information outflows that can be 
improved and design and develop the resulting applications using tools such 
as Sydney Plus, Crystal Reports, and other technologies.
E.      Work with Information Resources staff to develop creative reporting 
solutions using Crystal Reports.  Manage the report collection and any 
necessary software updates. Responsible for prioritizing the Crystal 
Reports queue.   Create reports that can be done without being a program 
and work with outside consultant to produce complex reports.
F.      Serve as the principal liaison between Information Resources and 
the other technology departments to ensure the continued effectiveness of 
the all library systems.
G.     Maintain awareness and understanding of emerging technological 
developments to apply computing-related technologies to information, 
communication, and learning initiatives.
H.      Perform miscellaneous duties as requested.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

    * ALA-accredited master’s degree in library science, including formal 
coursework in information technology and 3+ years of experience working in 
libraries.  Experience managing an integrated library system preferred.

    * Superior computer skills, including Word for Windows Office Suite (MS 
Word 6.0, Excel).; Experience with Crystal Reports, Sydney Plus, Lookup 
Precision and relational databases preferred.

    * Strong project management skills.  Ability to work on multiple tasks, 
prioritizing as necessary.

    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    * Strong analytical and reasoning skills.

    * Ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals at all 
levels of an organization.

    * Customer service orientation.

    * Ability to work under time deadlines.
