PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Would you like to improve your ability to speak effectively in formal
presentations, whether asking for money at a budget meeting, teaching a
class, advocating for the library or asking your staff to do even more?  In
her practical and good-humored way, Pat Wagner will demonstrate how to lower
your stress, improve the effectiveness of your message, design and practice
delivering your message, and deal with unexpected challenges and technical
mistakes.

 

After the program, participants will be able to:

§     Identify and apply principles of presenting to adult audiences

§     Time an outline for a presentation

§     Identify the main points of a presentation

§     Use peer coaching to improve your performance, or someone else's

§     Know how to deal with stage fright and hecklers

 

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY

Pat Wagner, of Pattern Research, Inc., has been working as a consultant and
trainer for libraries since 1978 and is a frequent presenter at library
conferences.  She uses her background in the performing and literary arts to
create programs that are both entertaining and insightful.  In the past, she
was a performance poet and actress, as well as an AM radio talk show host.
She has taught hundreds of librarians how to be more comfortable and
effective in front of live audiences.  Pat was also a college instructor and
taught adult education values and techniques to educators and working
adults.
