Just a reminder about next week's speaker. Also a note that O'Gara's does
not accept checks. MN-ASIST will pick up the tab on appetizers but you're
on your own for drinks.
Please let Ann know if you think you'll be joining us! Thanks!

Subject: Speaker Series Sep 13 - at O'Gara's
And Now for Something Completely Different" brain food sampler series
Tuesday September 13 5:00-6:30
***at O'Gara's in St. Paul***
"Top 10 Breaks and Fixes on the Help Desk" Robert Craft, Help Desk Manager
at the College of St. Catherine
Bob Craft has a variety of IT experience, primarily with Help Desk
Management, including technical support. He was honed by the Malcolm
Baldridge process and worked at a service company that won this prestigious
award for quality. Help Desks are not unlike Reference Desks or daily
activity in a corporate library. People call for information or help and
they (hopefully) get good answers. Data gathering is used to track
quality, ID redundant problems and reduce frustration for users.
Please note we have changed the venue for the Speaker Series to O'Gara's on
Selby & Snelling in St. Paul, in the "South Dining Room."
O'Gara's has a parking lot adjacent to the building.
The goal of our speaker series is to showcase different information-related
jobs and topics. The target audience is twofold: folks who are scoping out
potential careers and folks who want to stay up on things in case someone at
work asks and/or they are expected to become (or know) an expert in a given
area.
The format is informal, roundtable discussion. We will ask each speaker to
spend 30 minutes answering the following questions:
* What are the top 10 problems and how is each one fixed (We added
this one for Bob!)
* Who are you?
* What do you do?
* How did you get there?
* How could I do or learn to do what you do?
* If I needed to hire you or someone like you, what should I know to
make me a smart consumer?
Then we'll open it up for questions from attendees.
Here are the details:
Date & Time: 5:00 - 6:30 Tuesday September 13 (speaker starts at 5:30)
Place: O'Gara's, 164 Snelling Ave S. in St Paul (Just south of 94 and
Snelling)
