We are very excited to announce the speaker for the January ASIST meeting -
Coleen Rowley. Coleen is coming to speak on the FBI's Freedom of Information
and the civil liberties issues pertaining to libraries. "Balancing Civil
Liberties with the Need for Effective Investigation" is a paper and a
chapter in a book that was published last Fall and is also posted on her
campaign website at www.coleenrowley.com. We've asked her to modify that to
fit our audience.

 

We are very excited but we haven't ironed out all of the details yet. We
need help figuring out the right place - and you can help by letting us know
early if you plan to attend. We are hoping to keep it free - but might look
at a nominal fee ($5) if there is a cost for location. 

 

So, we hope you can join us - and I know this is some pressure but we sure
would appreciate it if you could let us know this week if you plan to
attend. (We won't hold you to it either way - but again it would help so
much to know how many people hoped to come to find the right location.)
