Peace Corps is Seeking IT/Library Scientist Volunteers in Mexico
PROGRAM:
Seasoned applicants are being sought in the areas of :
Business Advisor for Knowledge Management and Information Technology.
Experienced is required in IT and Library Science managing large
quantities of research materials. Volunteer would design and build a
information system for a R & D Center. Sought for a position with
CIATEC-Leon.
BENEFITS:
* Peace Corps covers all living expenses during the 27 months of
service. The benefits include round-trip transportation, medical and
dental care, a monthly stipend, 48 vacation days, and a readjustment
allowance upon completion of service.
* Volunteers will receive up to three months of intensive language
preparation, technical and cross-cultural training in Mexico before
beginning their service.
BACKGROUND:
In November 2003, the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Technologia, or
CONACYT, (the National Council on Science and Technology) of Mexico and
the Peace Corps signed a unique new partnership agreement that allowed
for the planning and preparation of the first Peace Corps program in
Mexico.
Peace Corps is now actively seeking 15 to 20 United States citizens who
are both experienced and highly trained engineering, technical and/or
business development volunteers, to work with CONACYT centers in
Queretaro, Leon, San Luis Potosi, and Aguacalientes, Mexico in some
specialized areas of environmental and water engineering, mechanical and
metallurgical engineering, and business development, including
information technology. The first group will depart for training in late
September.
