MnSCU/PALS has opened a User Support Specialist position to assist during 
the transition from PALS to the Aleph integrated library system. This is a 
temporary (three year) unclassified Information Technology Specialist 2 
position.

The purpose of the position is to provide help desk and other user support 
services for MnSCU/PALS member libraries. The person in this position will 
join the support team to assist library staff in resolving problems related 
to the use of the PALS and/or MnLINK (Aleph 500, VDX, ZPortal) library 
system software. There may be training
responsibilities with some travel required.

A working knowledge of automated library system activities is important. 
Considerable experience with the PALS online catalog and subsystems is a 
definite plus. The position requires in-depth knowledge of library 
procedures including two or more of the following:  reference, cataloging, 
circulation, serials, acquisitions, or
interlibrary loan. Superior communication skills (both oral and written) 
are required.
