Please excuse the cross-postings
Mark your calendars now for this October 10-12, as the Midwest Archives
Conference gathers for its annual Fall meeting in picturesque Rapid City,
South Dakota the Star of the West and gateway to the beautiful Black
Hills!
But the Rapid City meeting is not just for archivists. Planned sessions
will offer unique opportunities for library professionals to expand their
horizons, by gaining a solid understanding of archival practices and how
they interrelate with their own methods. To be sure, we have much to
teach one another! As befits the venue, some of the program offerings
will explore the rich history and heritage of the Black Hills region, and
as always there will be a choice of enlightening pre-conference workshops,
this time on digital imaging, exhibit design, preservation management and
oral history.
Of course, Rapid City and the Black Hills have much to offer in their own
right, and the richness of the region will be reflected in the meetings
impressive array of events and tours. And what better setting is there
for a combined conference and family vacation than Rapid City and the
Black Hills? You may want to come early or linger after the meeting to
enjoy the slower pace, affordable meals and lodging, and the Great
Outdoors. From Native American powwows to the Black Hills Symphony
Orchestra to the eye-popping scenery of the parks and trails, Rapid City
and the Black Hills of South Dakota have something to offer all who join
us at the MAC Fall 2002 meeting!
More details will be forthcoming. But for now, plan to join us this
October 10-12 as we head for the Hills the BLACK HILLS, that is!
