The John Spoor Broome Library at California State University Channel Islands is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track librarian, Systems Librarian, to assist us in furthering our service-oriented, student-centered, inter-disciplinary library environment.  The ideal candidate is innovative, team-oriented, entrepreneurial, willing to take chances, can laugh at their own mistakes, and wants to engage with the campus community.  Reporting to the Head of Collections and Technical Services, the Systems Librarian endeavors to design, deliver, and assess information services with a focus on student learning.  The Systems Librarian is a collaborative leader possessing technical expertise charged with creating an electronic and computing environment that supports our service-oriented, student-centered, inter-disciplinary learning experience.  The Systems Librarian is skilled in setting priorities; directing complex technology projects; fostering teamwork and staff development; working collaboratively in and outside the library and university, and; implementing effective technology services and solutions. The Systems Librarian understands the relationship between infrastructure, platform, and software and selects effective approaches in building integrated, user-focused services in a changing technology landscape. The Systems Librarian possesses proficiency in a variety of web scripting languages, relational database applications, and systems analysis and will be able to communicate about and advise on emerging technologies and information service trends. This position includes Reference Desk responsibilities and some evening and weekend hours.

This position is contingent upon enrollment growth and availability of funds. Appointments are for fall 2012 in the disciplines listed below.
