CONFERENCE TOPIC:
"Information, Tehnology and the User"
INTRODUCTION
ASIS&T European Workshop is a general information science and technology
conference with an aim of bringing together European based scholars and
practitioners of information science in order to discuss current
developments and European perspectives of information science research and
practice.
TOPICS
The general theme of the workshop is: "Information, Tehnology and the User"
Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- data, information, knowledge: same or different concepts?
- the philosophy of information: new (inter)discipline
- towards general theory of information (GTI): or, do we already have
one?
- objective vs. subjective information
- human-technology interaction
- technology, knowledge and society
- free and open technologies for free and open society: free and open
source software, open standards and open access in information institutions
- digital technologies and the rise of the do it yourself (DIY) culture
- Creative Commons and cultural production
- cyberspace and digital identities
- Internet as a powerful tool for social changes
- Internet and creative production
SUBMISSIONS
All researchers and practitioners, including senior and junior faculty
members, researchers, Masters and PhD students, librarians and information
specialists are invited. All submissions should be in English. Submissions
can be in the following format:
1. Extended abstracts of papers (not exceeding 750 words; bibliography not
included). They are used for presenting work in progress, theoretical and
practical propositions and practical case studies. Extended abstracts are
invited both from researchers and practitioners.
2. Poster abstracts (not exceeding 500 words; bibliography not included).
Posters are visual presentations of research and practical work in
progress. The posters should be designed for providing a brief overview of
the work and as a starting point for informal discussions during a
dedicated poster session when presenters are expected to stay by their
posters and be available for discussion with workshop participants in an
informal manner.
3. Full papers (not exceeding 3,000 words; bibliography not included). The
conference encourages the submission of quality papers. Submissions are
welcomed on any of the topic areas indicated above. Submissions will be
reviewed by the members of the programme committee on the basis of the
originality of the research, clarity of presentation, the quality of the
theoretical contribution made by the research, the validity and rigour of
the methodology chosen, the significance of the results presented and the
overall contribution to the field of information science and technology.
Submissions should be uploaded to the conference management system.

All submissions will be peer-reviewed by our Program committee.
DATES
- Extended abstracts of papers and poster abstracts should be submitted
by 1st of January 2015.
- Full papers should be submitted by 14th of August 2015.
All accepted abstracts and papers will be published in an open access
electronic conference proceedings volume.
All papers should be submitted following the Guidelines & Instructions.
GUIDELINES & INSTRUCTIONS
All papers should be submitted as a document file (MS Word, OpenOffice) and
authors should follow the APA style citation.
Extended abstract of papers should not exceed 750 words (exclusive of
references and CV) and should clearly state Title, Author(s),
Institution(s), Introduction, Theoretical framework, Research questions &
Methodology & Research Results, Conclusion, Keywords (maximum of five key
words), References and Author's CV.
Poster abstract submissions should consist of an abstract of maximum 500
words (exclusive of references and CV) and should clearly state Title,
Author(s), Institution(s), Abstract Text, Keywords (maximum of five key
words), References and Author's CV.
Full paper should contain up to 3,000 words and should clearly state Title,
Author(s), Institution(s), an Abstract of not more than 150 words, Keywords
(maximum of five key words), Introduction, Theoretical framework, Research
Questions & Methodology & Research Results, Conclusion, References,
Author's CV.
