Dear colleagues,
It is a pleasure to announce that European Chapter tries to improve the
contact to its members by means of an electronic newsletter. These
newsletters will appear irregularly and in a simple form in the beginning.
(1) New board members of ASIST European Chapter
=========================================
On October 1st the term of the new board starts. The composition of the
new ASIST EC board is as follows:
* Chair: Isto Huvila, Uppsala University, Sweden
* Chair-elect: Fidelia Ibekwe, University of Lyon3, France
* Assembly representative: Julian Warner, Queen's University Management
School, Northern Ireland
* Alternate assembly representative: Tatjana Aparac Jelušić, University
of Zadar, Croatia
* Chapter Member Record Holder: Sara Kjellberg, Lund University, Sweden
* Secretary/Treasurer: Isabella Peters, University of Duesseldorf, Germany
* Chapter Advisors: Emile Levine and Christian Schloegl, University of
Graz, Austria
* Student chapter chair: Cathal Hoare, University of Cork, Ireland
* Vice student chapter chair: Karin Karlics, University of Bolzano, Italy
As you can see, European countries are well represented among the board
members. Furthermore, the board is good mix between well-experienced and
upcoming information scientists.
(2) ASIST Annual Meeting – Panel on “Information Science in Europe”

At this year’s ASIST Annual Meeting (http://www.asis.org/asist2010/)
there will be a panel on “Information Science in Europe” which was
organized by the European Chapter. Details can be found at

(3) Conferences - Call for Papers
==========================
International Symposium on Information Science (ISI 2011)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the main conference series on information science in
German-language countries (with an increasing international
participation, conference languages at ISI 2011 are German and English).
Next year’s conference is the 12th one of its kind and will take place
between 9th and 11th March at the University of Hildesheim, Germany.
Submission date for papers is October 25th.

BOBCATSSS 2011
----------------------------
Next BOBCATSSS conference will be between January 31st and February 2nd
2011 in Szombathely, Hungary.
The deadline for submitting abstracts is October 15th, 2010.

13th International Symposium on Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI 2011)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ISSI is the main conference on scientometrics, informetrics, webometrics
and related topics and takes place bi-annually. ISSI 2011 will be in
Durban, South Africa, 4th-8th July 2011.
