Hi Chapter Leadership,
This is a call for nominations for two key positions that are elected
from the chapters at-large. The positions are describe below, and
estimated time commitments are included. A ballot will be created for,
and voted on during chapter assembly at the Annual Meeting in a few
weeks. If you are interested, email me @ amy.wallace at csuci.edu. Also
feel free to send along this message to any chapter members that you
think might be good for one of these positions.
Chapter Representative to the Nominations Committee
The Nominations Committee shall consist of five members, including the
Past President, who shall be Chair. The four other members shall not be
members of the Board of Directors. At the meeting of the Chapter
Assembly and the SIG Cabinet which take place during the annual
conference, each body shall designate one member of ASIS&T to serve as a
members of the Nominations Committee for the next election. The
remaining two members shall be chosen by the Chair of the Committee.
Should the office of Past President become vacant, the President shall
appoint as Chair that member who has served the longest as a member of
the Board, or if there be two or more Directors of equal length of
service, then the President shall designate one of them as Chair. If, at
the time the committee meets, the designee of the Assembly or Cabinet is
not able to serve, a substitute for the vacancy shall be made by the
presiding officer of the Assembly or Cabinet whose designee is unable to
serve.
Estimated Time: 20-30 hours over several months (winter/spring), varies
on the number of annual reports submitted.
Chapter Representative to the Chapter of the Year Committee
The purpose of the COY award is to recognize outstanding chapters for
their contributions to ASIS&T and the advancement of information
science. All ASIS&T chapters in good standing are eligible to receive
this award. There is no limit on the number of times a chapter may win
the award, and more than one chapter may win in a given year. The
Chapter-of-the-Year Award Jury shall be composed of six members (five
voting). The Jury to judge the nominations shall consist of the ASIS&T
Executive Director (ex officio without vote); the Chapter Assembly
Director or Deputy, who shall serve as chair, two members appointed by
the Chapter Assembly; and two members chosen by the ASIS&T President.
Appointments are for a term of one year.
Estimated Time: 4-8 hours in early September, varies on the number of
annual reports submitted.
