Dear Chapter Leaders,
Please excuse my silence over these last months - I'm finally catching up
and so you'll hear from me more often.
I have to say, I am not the only one who has been remiss in her Chapter
Assembly communication. As I was comparing what the ASIS&T website lists
for your chapter officers and your own chapter websites, I couldn't help
but notice that most of your own websites are woefully out-of-date. Could
you, at the very least, update the list of chapter officers on your web
page and make it clear that these are for 2007-2008?
I also noticed that many chapters do not seem to even have new officers. I
will be having a conference call with all the chapter advisers and they
will be encouraged to check in with you all and find out what's up and how
we can help.
In the meantime, I need YOUR help. I cannot seem to come up with names of
people to ask to become a Chapter Assembly Adviser for Northern, Central,
Southern Ohio. This is a two appointment. It isn't a lot of work -
generally, the chapter Advisor serves as a liaison between the chapters
and ASIST, making contact with chapter chairs and/or reps. on an as-needed
basis to provide encouragement, support, and information; to identify
issues or problems that should be shared with the Assembly Director;
provide advice as requested; gather information about chapter officers and
activities; help chapters keep up with deadlines
for filing award nominations and reports with ASIST HQ; and similar
activities. In addition the Chapter Advisor serves on the juries for
Chapter Member
of the Year, Chapter Publication, and Chapter Event of the Year.
If you know of someone with appropriate experience as a chapter leader or
would like to volunteer yourself, please let me know as soon as possible.
Many thanks, and more soon!
Beata
