Chapter of the Year
Los Angeles Chapter

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Chapter of ASIS&T for winning the 2005
Chapter of the Year Award! LACASIS supports a broad range of activities
that reflects a wholehearted engagement of members in maintaining these
activities. In its programming, LACASIS is not only addressing issues in
information science in a timely manner and providing continuing education
for practitioners, but it is also presenting a vision for information
science for the future. It is not merely responsive to the changing
information environment, but it is proactive. It presented several
cutting-edge programs related to digital preservation that are a unique
contribution to the information science field and have potential to expand
this chapter’s membership to involve the cultural preservation community
in far more central roles than it has ever been. This reflects a
future-oriented vision, integrating the corporate, academic, and cultural
sectors. The chapter has a healthy outreach program focused on students
and other information professionals. And it is exemplary in terms of
governance, record-keeping and planning. Please join us in congratulating
the Los Angeles Chapter for being an outstanding chapter of ASIS&T.
