[Chapters-l] News from Chapter Assembly (at long last!)

Contrary to the assertion, we checked a number of years ago and there are no
conventions or standards for phone numbers, zip codes, where these appear in
addresses, etc.

We had the database changed so that we enter exactly what the people tell
us, as they tell us, but in the appropriate places in our database (i.e., we
can not move the zip code around for one country).

Thanks Beata,

Re the Minutes of the Chapter Assembly, item 9b, two friendly corrections /
additions:

- the first preconference event mentioned was the ASIS&T session at LIDA
2004
held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, not Zürich.

- the mention that problems with membership roster result from it to be
"American" pointed to the fact that most databases ignore local conventions
fo
writing up addresses (e.g. position and structure of "zip" code) and
possibly
the fact that the persons keying in the information or checking have more
difficulty for finding mistakes in "exotic" addresses. In other words no
offense
:-)

Best regards

Michel
