[Asist-announce] MEMBERS - names & e-mail addresses in wrong hands

On Thursday, membership at asis.org received an e-mail purportedly from me and
my e-mail address asking for a complete membership list, just name and
e-mail.

 

Unfortunately, the staff person hit reply and sent the info, which included
member number, name, member type, join and expire date, and e-mail address.

 

The message actually went to rhill.asis at nokiamail.com, with the return path
for the original message as mpmsalon at mb2d85.vdrs.net.  This was an unusual
and carefully constructed spoof in the opinion of those I have consulted, so
extreme caution is advised.  That is why the above details are included.

 

We try to protect your personal information, especially including e-mail
addresses, and are greatly embarrassed by and regret this incident.
