Folks
having received only 1 comment from Timothy Dickey (who basically agreed with my opinion and also had a useful suggestion I just vote NO on
ISO New work item proposal: Emergency preparedness and response for cultural heritage
with the following comments:
) before developing a new document for cultural heritage
material an investigation should be undertaken to determine if the document for library and archival material could also apply to cultural heritage material
2) if a document for cultural heritage material is going to be developed and its going to be anything like the one (ISO 11799) for library and archival material it hardly merits being an ISO standard. ISO 11799 is merely a collection of useful (sometimes common sense) suggestions and advice that hardly merits being an ISO standard since it doesnt really standardize or mandate anything. Its a useful document that provides some potentially helpful advice and guidance and might make sense being published as a technical report or advisory document but hardly deserves the status of an ISO standard - If a similar document is defined for cultural heritage material and contains the same type of material that is in ISO 11799 it would fall into the same category
If anyone has a problem or disagreement with this vote we have until 11/5 to change our vote and/or comments
Also there are 2 more votes coming up

This part of ISO 23081 covers the principles that underpin and govern records management metadata. These principles apply through time to:

2) Systematic Review for ISO 9230:2007 (vers 2) Information and documentation -Determination of price indexes for print and electronic media purchased by librarian
This is a ballot for the five-year systematic review of the TC46/SC8 standard ISO 9230:2007, Information and documentation - Determination of price indexes for print and electronic media purchased by librarians
This International Standard specifies a method for the determination of price indexes relating to the prices of print and electronic media acquired by libraries. It is not meant for calculating a price index of the national media production. The media included are restricted to books, serials and databases.
NOTE Further details are given in 2.2 and 3.1.
It is intended primarily for use by the library community, although it is accepted that other organizations may also find it useful. It focuses on compiling price indexes on the base of national and international sources, relevant to one country or region and different types of libraries. Different indexes will be appropriate to different types of library, according to the types of material in their collections. This International Standard presents a methodology allowing for a general index which could be calculated from subsets of data, and
could be weighted according to local needs. It introduces sampling methods for the selection of materials on which to base calculations.
Note that this International Standard describes indexes of prices, not of costs. Local cost indexes can be compiled instead of price indexes where there is insufficient uniformity of pricing structures to permit the calculation of price indexes, or as an additional tool for libraries. Guidelines for the calculation of local cost indexes are given in Annex B.
***If you are using this standard, please note that in your vote comments. If you are using a different standard/guideline for the intended purpose of this standard, please indicate which one in your comments.
Your voting options are:
Confirm (as is or with only editorial corrections) [comments optional]
Revise [comments required; should be substantive]
Withdraw [comments required; reasons for recommending withdrawal]
Abstain (from voting) [comments optional]
comments and a suggestion for a vote needed by 11/29 for both standards - I have attached the relevant documents (mostly) to this note - for some reason the pdf of ISO 9230 wont download so ill have to get it to you later
