In that case, it's perhaps not so simple. As co-chair of a NISO Topic Committee, I see a real need for publishers and vendors to participate actively in the work of NISO, so I would actually cast a vote for the Elsevier person. As someone who works for one of the USMAI Consortium institution, I highly recommend Chuck Thomas. Which leaves a choice between 2 library deans, neither of whom I know although I'd love to see smaller libraries represented. This is admittedly heresy, how could we not vote for Sayeed Choudhury, so I defer to the majority here.

sory forgot to mention that - its 3 so that vote has a little impact

the vote for Vice Chair usually only has 1 candidate

In fact 1 year I was asked to be on the nominating committee for Vice Chair - I never did any work or heard anything but a few months later I got a letter from NOS thanking me for nominating the candidate who was on the ballott

How many slots are there for the Board of Directors? I.e., are the 4 candidates listed here uncontested or does the vote have an actual impact?

Folks the NISO election is coming up - there are 2 ballots

2015 Official Ballot NISO Board of Directors Election

Sayeed Choudhury (The Johns Hopkins University Libraries)

(Comment Optional)

Heather Reid (Berklee College of Music)

(Comment Optional)

My personal feeling is we should vote for the folks from the libraries - unless any wants to be nominated or knows of someone who should be nominated

2) 2015 Official Ballot NISO Board Vice Chair Election this is for the NISO Vice Chair/Chair-Elect

there is not a lot of choice unless someone wants to be nominated or knows of someone who should be nominated

B. Tommie Usdin (Mulberry Technologies) (Comments Optional)

Other (comments Optional)

I need comments and recommendations by 6/25/2015

And as they say in Chicago

"Vote early and often"
