Faculty
Dean and Professor Emerita *Michèle Cloonan* and Adjunct *Sidney Berger* have
a collection of decorated papers currently on exhibition at Cushing Library
at Texas A&M University. The exhibit, "The Angel in the Marble," opened on
March 1.
Associate Professor *Amy Pattee *was quoted in a *Boston Globe* story about
the most frequently lost books

at the Boston Public Library.
*Jeff Pomerantz*, currently a Visiting Professor, will join the SLIS
faculty as an Associate Professor of Practice. Pomerantz will take on the
role of Online Coordinator and will serve on the Assessment Committee.
He has been teaching online and hybrid courses since 2001 and he taught a
MOOC on metadata; he recently held the position of Senior Researcher with
the EDUCAUSE Center for Analysis and Research.
Associate Professor *Rong Tang*'s paper entitled "Cognitive Styles and Eye
Movement Patterns: An Empirical Investigation into Users’ Interactions with
Interface Elements and Visualization Objects of a Scientific Information
System" has been accepted by *Information Research. *The second author of
the paper is Yeseul Song. Tang also co-authored an article

Professor *Kyong Eun Oh*, “How Do University Students Receive, Read, Find,
Share, and Store News? A Survey Study on Mobile News Behavior” published by
the *Journal of Library & Information Studies*.
Senior Lecturer *Rachel Williams *presented a paper, "Boundaries, Third
Spaces, and Public Librarianship," at the iConference in Sheffield, UK on
March 27. Williams has been invited to participate in a guest panel
discussion, "Homelessness and Public Libraries" at the Texas Library
Association in Dallas, Texas on April 5.

*Megan Blakemore* '04LS wrote an article, "Problem Scoping Design Thinking
and Close Reading: Makerspaces in the School Library," which has been
published in *Knowledge Quest

Blakemore is currently a student in the SLIS doctoral program.
*Katie Olivo* ’14LS will be the Associate Director for Graduate and
International Recruitment at Shenandoah University this April. Olivo has
been a full-time staff member in SLIS Admissions for five years, and is an
alumna of the Dual Archives/History program.
*Karen G. Schneider* '17LDS and *Charles O'Bryan* '17LDS co-authored
"Zero-Based Budgeting In a Cutback Scenario For A Small Academic Library"
published in *Library Leadership & Management

*Matt Sullivan* '14LS wrote a paper, "Why Librarians Can't Fight Fake
News," which has been published online by the *Journal of Librarianship and
Information Science <https://doi.org/10.1177/0961000618764258>*. Sullivan
wrote the paper following an independent study on misinformation.
