[Asis-l] Passing of a good man - Dave Liston

In the late 60's and early 70's there was a cadre of Battelle executives who
were very influential within ASIS (as it was then known). This included,
among others, John Murdoch, and David Liston.  Dave taught many workshops on
indexing and abstracting and was a fine engineer who understood information
transfer.  He also loved spoonerisms, puns, and jokes in general.  He had
many good friends in ASIS and worked several times to try to create a united
engineering information system.  Alas, these efforts could never overcome
the special interests of the various professional societies and
organizations who had strong vested interests in the status quo.

Dave died on March 16 (see attached obituary).   I think there are still
some members who will remember him.
