ALISE/Bohdan S.Wynar Research Paper Competition (DEADLINE - July 15, 2013)
 
The Associationfor Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) is now acceptingproposals for its 2014 Research Paper Competition. The purpose of this award isto further stimulate the communication of research at ALISE annual meetings.Research papers concerning any aspect of library and information science areeligible. This competition is not limited to research regarding LIS education.Any research methodology is acceptable. Up to two winning papers may beselected. 
 
The winner(s) ofthe award will be honored at the 2014 ALISE annual meeting and will be expectedto present a summary of their paper at that meeting. The award will be givenwithout an honorarium.
 
* At least oneapplicant in a group must be a personal member of ALISE as of the deadlinedate.
* Only oneresearch paper will be considered from each entrant; multiple entries by thesame author will not be accepted. The same author may submit for both theResearch Grant Award and the Research Papers Competition; however, the samework cannot be submitted for both categories.
* Papers mustrepresent completed research not previously published. However, the manuscriptmay have been submitted and be in process for publication. 
* Papers,including abstract and references, must not exceed 35 double-spaced pages(approximately 10,000 words), should have one inch margins and be in 12 pointfont. 
* Research paperscompleted in the pursuit of master's and doctoral studies (e.g. theses, seminarpapers, and dissertations) are not eligible for entry. Research utilizing datagathered by a master's or doctoral student is eligible unless the researchreport is taken directly from a paper submitted for degree requirements. Paperswhich are spin-offs of such research are eligible for entry. 
* Papersgenerated as a result of a research grant or other source of funding areeligible for the competition. 
* Two title pagesmust be sent. One with, and one without, author names(s) and institution. Bothtitle pages should carry the name of the competition for which the paper isbeing submitted. 
 
Judging
The papers willbe judged by the Research Committee with the assistance of additional ALISEmembers in those cases where the research topic or methodology warrant. Allreviewing is blind. Research papers will be judged on the following criteria:
* Significance ofthe research problem. 
* Presentation ofthe relevant literature. 
* Design of thestudy (i.e., appropriateness of methodology, selection of specific techniquesand/or tests). 
* Conduct of thestudy (i.e., application of methods of data collection). 
* Analysis andpresentation of the data (i.e., quality of analysis, logic of findings). 
* Appropriatenessof the conclusions. 
 
Papers will bedisqualified if they exhibit one or more of the following:
* Lack ofadherence to submission requirements
* Submission ofpaper for the wrong award
* Poor quality inthe writing
* Poororganization of material
 
Papers must bereceived no later than July 15, 2013. They should be emailed as an attachmentin Word format to this email address:
