Big Data Research Officer

Grade 6: Salary £25,854 - £30,870 p.a.

We are a leading international research Institute looking for a full-time Researcher to work in the generation and management of large datasets associated with projects focusing on social media, collective action and digital governance, funded by the ESRC, JISC and Google. The position will involve coordinating the storage of databases, writing scripts to collect and query data, perform analyses in collaboration with other researchers at the OII, and liaise with IT staff to manage the use of technical infrastructure.

Applicants should have a graduate or postgraduate qualification in computer science with an interest in the social aspect of online technologies. The successful candidate will feel comfortable working with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, and will be able to take a lead in project management, data collection and analysis, and the dissemination of results.

Based at our OII North office at 66 Banbury Road, this position is available immediately for 18 months in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal thereafter, funding permitting. It may be possible to hire at Postdoctoral Research Fellow level given the right candidate.
