The Faculty at the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seek interdisciplinary colleagues who are interested in joining our sustained and creative efforts to advance the scholarship and practice of information and library science. Those with fresh and innovative ideas, a commitment to professional engagement and an appreciation for cultural diversity are encouraged to apply for a fixed-term Lecturer position.  The appointment of the position is for one-year from January-December 2013, with potential renewal. The salary range is $42,000-$48,000 (for academic year with potential for additional summer teaching salary).

Position Summary:   The successful candidate will be expected to teach three (3) courses per semester to graduate and undergraduate students.  Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: archival studies, and/or information systems management and design (e.g. systems analysis, databases). The individual in this position will also be expected to advise students, serve on committees, and participate in faculty activities.

Educational Requirements:  Candidates are required to have earned a Master's degree in information/library science or related field.  Additionally, having an earned Ph.D. in information/library science or a related field is an asset.
 
Qualifications and Experience:  Evidence of prior classroom teaching experience or three years of experience in one-on-one instruction or similar consultative situations is also required for this position. In addition to strong interpersonal skills, having relevant professional experience and experience in academic advising and faculty life are all assets.  The applicant must be fluent in writing and speaking English.
