Final Call for Participation - PIM 2012 Workshop at CSCW 2012, February 11-12, 2012, Seattle, WA

The Fifth International Workshop on Personal Information Management (PIM 2012) will be held as part of CSCW 2012. Personal Information Management (PIM) is the practice and study of the activities people perform to acquire, organize, maintain, and retrieve personal information for everyday use.

The theme for this year's workshop is "PIM in a Socially Networked World." While PIM 2012 is a forum for a wide range of topics related to personal information management, special focus will be given to topics from the perspective of sharing personal information, PIM used in collaborative settings, and how PIM is an extension of the self.

We encourage participation based on, but not limited to, the following PIM-related topics:

PIM in a Socially Networked World
Group information management
Information spaces that serve multiple users (at home, at work, at play)
Social and psychological aspects of sharing work space
Privacy and projection of personal information
Security, law and policies (public and corporate)
Defining and negotiating boundaries
Understanding PIM Activities
How people manage their personal information
How people find and re-find information
How people keep and organize information
Methods and methodologies for PIM field work Teachable/learnable strategies of PIM
Tools and Techniques in Support of PIM
Desktop, Mobile, and Web-based PIM tools
Data representation and the unification of personal information
Tools for finding, re-finding, keeping, and organizing personal information
Methods and methodologies for the evaluation of PIM tools

We invite submissions related to the theme in the following categories:

Research papers (research or theoretical papers): 8,000 words maximum (8 pages)
Position papers: 2,000 words maximum (2-4 pages)

Submissions should be formatted using the ACM archival publications template (without page numbers) and submitted to:
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=pim2012 no later than Midnight PDT on November 30, 2011.

Submissions will be peer-reviewed and participants will be notified of acceptance by December 15, 2011 (in time for the CSCW early registration deadline). At least one author of each accepted paper must register for the workshop.
