**Emerald appoints Professor Amanda Spink as Editor of Aslib Proceedings**

Emerald Group Publishing is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Amanda Spink as editor of Aslib Proceedings, one of Emerald's leading information science titles standing alongside Journal of Documentation and the Emerald Library and Information Science Book Series.

Professor Spink, Chair of Information Science at Loughborough University, UK, has been noted as an intellectual leader for Library and Information Science and for having the second highest citation h-index in the field for 2004-2008*. Her research focuses on developing theories and models of information behaviour.  She has published more than 340 publications and six books. She has over 20 years' experience in information science in the United States, Australia and the UK.

Emerald's Publishing Director Rebecca Marsh has been working closely with ASLIB and commented: "We are delighted to welcome Amanda to ASLIB at this important point in its history. With her leadership we are confident that the journal will develop into one of the must-have publications for information professionals. Together with its sister publication Managing Information, the two publications provide an invaluable resource for people who manage information and knowledge in organizations and the information industry. We'd also like to take the opportunity to thank the outgoing editor David Nicholas for his long involvement with the journal."

Aslib Proceedings was founded in 1949 as the conference proceedings publication of ASLIB (Association for Information Management). Emerald acquired the journal in 2001 and in March 2010 went on to acquire the ASLIB Membership Association itself. The appointment of Professor Spink marks a move to re-establish the journal as the flagship academic publication of the ASLIB Association. The journal will focus on academic research but will also demonstrate how practitioners can translate the latest theory into everyday practice.

Professor David Nicholas of University College London edited the journal for over a decade and was responsible for several innovations including widening the focus of the journal to include emphasis on journalism and new media areas.

The change of Editorship will be effective from the 2012 volume onwards. Prospective authors should visit the journal information page at: http://www.emeraldinsight.com/ap.htm.

Aslib Proceedings is available as part of either an online subscription to Emerald Management eJournals or as a part of ASLIB Association Membership. For more information see: http://www.aslib.com
