Yes. We'd be talking a detriment for the writer(s), of course.
But correspondingly, and more importantly, for the readers, i.e.
for the readers' understanding of what the writers' message
really is. Communication of meaning ( call it information, if
you like ) is the victim. So it goes. Fortunately, the solution
is obvious.
